A Gulfport Venue Rich In History

Grass Lawn was built in 1836 by Dr Hiram A. Roberts who owned a sugarcane plantation in Louisiana. The beautiful structure was used as a “summer home” and overlooked the Gulf of Mexico. Large Live Oak trees line the driveway and create a beautiful ambiance for parties and celebrations. The property was divided over the years and John Milner purchased Grass Lawn and was the owner of the Coca Cola Company in Gulfport. Grass Lawn was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The home was eventually purchased by the City of Gulfport and was used for weddings, special events, inaugurations and many other opulent festive occasions.

Grass Lawn was completely destroyed during the worst natural disaster the country has ever seen: Hurricane Katrina. Grass Lawn was rebuilt after much deliberation by Gulfport city officials, and has brought back a feeling of grandeur on the Gulf Coast. It was a painstaking process to recreate the beautiful building and keep the history intact. The completed structure was dedicated on July 20, 2012.

Catering Creations took the exclusive lease on the property in 2014 and now hosts weddings and special events for their clients.
